Fellow Abolitionist:  I am writing to remind you about this Saturday's
event: Race and the Death Penalty, which starts at 7 pm at the Langston
Hughes Performing Arts Center.  This event promises to be one of the most
important in our Coalition's history.  
 
You cannot tell the story of the death penalty without also telling stories
of racial injustice.  The two are linked.  On Saturday, Christina Swarns,
this country's leading thinker on race and the death penalty, will tell us
where we've been and give us a vision for a brighter future.  And, Jeff
Robinson will remind us that it happens here, too.  I think you will be
shocked and moved by what happened just a few years ago in Kitsap County.  
 
We've also been astounded by the local musicians who have agreed to perform
in support of our cause.  
 
Finally, this event marks the beginning of Abolition 2009, our push to pass
a bill abolishing the death penalty forever.  
 
I hope to see you there.  And, if you are as excited about this event as I
am, please forward this message on or invite anyone you think might join us
in the cause.
