[WCADP-list] Volunteers Needed: Saturday, June 17th

Every year the Washington Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty (WCADP) and
the Olympia Fellowship of Reconciliation's Committee for Alternatives to the
Death Penalty (FOR) jointly sponsor Death Penalty abolition information
tables/booths at several summertime events.  In the past, the Olympia FOR
group has provided almost all of the staffing.  However, this year two
important events will take place on the same day: Saturday, June 17th.

Volunteers are needed to staff information booths at these events:

Super Saturday:  This is a huge event with more than 20,000 participants on
the campus of the Evergreen State College (a few miles west of Olympia).
This event is a lot of fun with plenty of entertainment, food, information
tables, and more.  The Olympia FOR group has offered to handle set-up and
the provision of materials.  We need two or more volunteers willing to man
the booth from 10:00AM to 6:00PM.

The Capital City Pride Celebration:  This annual event is held at Sylvester
Park in downtown Olympia and draws a diverse group of people that support
human rights.  In the past this event has had a large percentage of
abolitionists and has generated a lot of contacts for the WCADP.  Again, the
Olympia FOR will handle set-up but volunteer help is needed.  If you are
interested, we can use your help from 10:00AM to 6:00PM.

Events like these are critical in our work to end the death penalty in
Washington State.  With every name secured, our network of abolitionists
continues to grow!  With every pamphlet or fact sheet distributed, a mind
can be turned against the Death Penalty.  This is very important work.
