1.  Pierce County Withdraws Death Notice for Covell Thomas:  After spending
time on Washington State's death row before being granted a new trial,
Covell Thomas has learned that Pierce County Prosecutors will no longer seek
the death penalty in his new trial.  This story is available at:

Supreme court in ruling on Rompilla v. Beard has decided that a defendant

4.  The State of Texas Establishes Alternative to the Death Penalty:  Texas
Gov. Rick Perry has signed legislation that permits jurors in death cases to
consider a sentence of Life Without Parole.  More information on the new law
