I ask you, Governor Blount, to stop your state's execution of Donald Jones.
Mr. Jones is scheduled to die next Wednesday, 4/27/2005, for the 1993 murder
of his Grandmother, Dorothy Knuckles.

Mr. Jones was under the debilitating influence of crack cocaine when he
committed this crime. Post-conviction psychological testing showed him to
be afflicted by a dissociative disorder that rendered him less that
responsible for his actions. His incompetent attorneys missed a filing
deadline to have this medical evidence considered on appeal. Governor
Blount, it is clear that Donald Jones is medically impaired and has not yet
received his constitutionally guaranteed fair trial.

Former Attorney General of the United States Janet Reno, as well as myriads
of scholars, can find no evidence that the death penalty deters capital
crimes. In fact, the warden of the famous Sing Sing prison believes that the
death penalty exacerbates the violence in his facility by setting an example
of cold-blooded killing. Recent studies show that the largest increase in
capital crimes is in Texas, the state which executes the most people.

Please, Governor Blount, stop this killing of Donald Jones. The country
looks to you to act with mercy.

Thank you.

I ask you, Governor Riley, to stop your state's execution of Mario Centobie.
Mr. Centobie is scheduled to die next Thursday, 4/28/2005, for the 1998
fatal shooting of Police Officer Keith Turner.

Mr. Centobie was abandoned by his father at the age of four. He
attempted suicide when he was twenty years old. In spite of these adverse
experiences he was recognized for his service to the community by fire and
rescue workers after an Amtrak accident near his home. Mr. Centobie has
dropped his lawful appeals and has not sought clemency. He is committing
suicide, aided by you and the citizens of Alabama. Governor Riley, you
cannot let the execution of Mario Centobie go forward!

Former Attorney General of the United States of America Janet Reno, as well
as myriads of scholars, can find no evidence that the death penalty deters
capital crimes. In fact, the warden of the famous Sing Sing prison believes
that the death penalty exacerbates the violence in his facility by setting
an example of cold-blooded killing. Recent studies show that the largest
increase in capital crimes is in Texas, the state which executes the most
people.

Please, Governor Riley, act with mercy and stop this killing of Mario
Centobie.

Thank you.
