Marilyn: The Northeast has few collecting sites available any more. Those
that are open are heavily visited and picked over. You might stop at the
Roxbury Falls, Ct Almandine mine. Crystals are abundant, but you have to dig
100 poor ones to find one good one! There is a swap/sale at Kent, Ct on June
13, 1 mile North of the village which is very good for self-collected
material to buy or trade or just to find out about the collecting sites (We
will be there, say "hello"). This is about 30 minutes from the Garnet Mine.

Wish I could be more optimistic, but the good sites are hard to find and
most are gone.

Larry Rush

hi all I sent a posting a few days ago and didn't change the subject line
so not sure who would have read it or just deleted it.

so here I go again...my friend and I are trying to find some easy to reach
collecting sites when we are in the Herkimer area. we are going to Crystal
Grove on June 2 and have until June 8 to do more collecting in other areas.
we are also going to try the Franklin area too on the way to Crystal Grove.
we heard about the Mineralfest in Macungie PA on June 6 so thought we might
drive to that area and check it out. If you know of any good collecting
sites would appreciate the info. thanks Marilyn
