In my opinion, the iron / copper mine at Falun, in Dalarna, is not to be
missed. The museum is quite nice, and the underground tour of the old mine
works is pretty spectacular. Plus, you can spend the day in the 'cultural
heart' of Sweden, with tons of stuff to see and do, both indoors and out,
especially if the weather is nice.

The mineral collection at the Naturhistoriska Riksmuseet (Natural History
Musuem) is small, but impressive. And if you happen to be in Stockholm,
it's convenient, too. Best to check first to see what's on display...
Finally, though not necessarily mineral-related, Sweden's High Coast is
worth a look for any geologist. Nice place to spend a couple days
wandering around in the woods, and some of the coolest mix of tectonics,
geomorphology, and glacial geology in one spot. I'm planning a short trip
there during my summer vacation this year.

That being said, none of these are collecting spots. I've not done much
research into rockhounding sites since I got here, but it's pretty tough
rock, and the glaciers have taken away a lot...
