Hi Kreigh,

An article by Wayne Leicht describing the mine and mineralogy of the  
Grandview Mine was published in the MR (V. 2, No. 5, 1971). In that  
article, he describes "Unknown #5." At that time, he had permission  
from the Park Service to sample the mine to study the mineralogy. The  
timing fits for it to be the source of the material that is shown in  
the www.mineralman.com website that Julie directed us too.

Later in the '70s, I was told stories at the Tucson Shows of some  
surreptitious collecting attempts, but in general it wasn't worth the  
trouble for any commercial mineral specimen interest, but that doesn't  
mean there weren't some specimens obtained by others later.
