[Rockhounds] Tumbling Rubies???

Has anyone had experience tumbling corundum?
I have a few pounds of rough rubies I would like to put in the tumbler, but I don't think I have the right type of grit (silicon carbide).
Any advice and help on this subject would be grateful. Brett
