I just checked in the classic book by Peter Bancroft, "Gem and Crystal
Treasures" (1984). Chapter 7 in it, pp.38-41, is about the Joplin district. It
includes a cropped version of that same picture of Boodle Lane with the big
calcite "teeth" above him. Bancroft's chapter includes modern color photos of
galena and hemimorphite from there, but no calcite.

Larry,
First time I have heard the name Boodle Lane in many years. He was already
a legend when I got into collecting in the '40's and about 10 or 12 years
ago I got a flat of galenas wrapped in 1944 newspapers that had Boodle Lane
labels with them. They sold right out in the first couple of shows.
