This sounds great.  Another minor suggestion: since this is a 
"double-confirmed opt-in" subscription, as we say in the anti-spam 
world, the confirmation message could also include a copy of the rules 
in the way it is sent now once the subscription is complete.  The 
message could say "confirmation of the subscription implies that you 
have read and agree to abide by all the rules and policies of the list 
as written below."  Other lists do that, so it wouldn't be unique.
