[Rockhounds] Phoenix suggestions?

The Apache Tears site near Superior, if it's the one I'm thinking of, is still good- I was there last month. Only go on weekends, though- it's a working quarry.
I'm not familiar with the book you mention- my preference is the two by Bearce. Both have detailed directions, topo maps, ratings for degree of difficulty in access, collecting, etc. Both are available on Amazon.

Hello folks,  Long time lurker heading to phoenix for a conference.  I have
a couple of days to collect and would appreciate any advice on the site's
I'm looking at.  I'm using Garry Blair's book on possible sites.  Are they
still open?  Productive?
1) 4th of July Butte off I-10 W of Phoenix for agate
2) Apache tears near superior
3) Purple agate near sheeps bridge or horseshoe reservoir

Any suggestions for Julie and I are appreciated.
Dave
