There will be a swap/tail gate event in the HGMS (Houston Gem and
Mineral Society) parking lot on Sunday, March 15, 2009, from 10:00 a.m.
until 4:00 p.m. For those who are not familiar with the Houston Gem &
Mineral Society location, it is near the intersection of the Southwest
Frwy (U. S. 59) and the Beltway 8 (toll road). The actual street address
is on our website, hgms.org and is 10805 Brooklet at Rockley, Houston,
Texas 77099.

It is open to all the clubs in our general area, as well all
participants. The spaces in the parking lot will be available on a first
come-fist serve basis and I recommend anyone wanting to set up to trade
or sell get there about an hour before it begins, or around 9:00 a.m.,
which is when I will get there.

The clubhouse will be open for those who need to use the restroom or
want to purchase a beverage from our refrigerator. Our beverages are not
free and we will not be providing any food, although I usually do pickup
a couple dozen doughnuts on the way and I will probably make some coffee
as soon as I can get into the clubhouse, if someone else does not beat
me to that chore.

If it rains, we will rent space inside the clubhouse for those who wish
to go inside and keep dry (of course it is free, if you are just going
in to keep dry and are not selling or using a table to trade off of, etc.)

I have been told there will be some good equipment for sale, or trade,
and this is a great opportunity for those of you who endeavor to make
nice things from rocks to show your art and see if anyone will really
pay or trade for it. Consider this a mini-gem show lab/experiment for
those who dream of selling at a major event someday. We even allow folks
who have spent countless hours on river banks and gravel bars to bring
their once wonderful finds in for the less educated to broaden their
immaginations and gawk at.
