Hey, I hadn't heard of Cottonwood either until I moved to Lake Montezuma, AZ
which is about 20 miles away.
Interesting area.
Have neighbors who live in Phoenix area in the winter and here in the summer
(you'll understand why when the temperature in mid-June at 1030PM is 80
degrees here and 101 in Phoenix. Then there are others who live here in the
winter and in the Flagstaff area in the summer. I think there is a city code that
demands all snow, if any, must melt before noon.
The Mingus Gem and Mineral Club conducts meetings every month except July
and August. Except for the March meeting, all other meetings include a guest
speaker. Some have come from as far away as Tucson and Bagdad. Refreshments
(just short of a full meal) are served at every meeting. Normally 80-90+ are at
every meeting. Christmas dinner meeting two years ago was catered.
Last year the club offer 19 field trips between September and June. The club
has a workshop that is open and manned 6 days a week.
There are appx 50 vendors on the show wait-list. Current vendors come from
Jerome, Sedona, Tucson, Greater Phoenix area, Bowie, Prescott, Idaho and
California. Dinner provided for vendors after set-up on Thursday.
Any rockhound attending the show gets in free if they are wearing their club
badge to the show. In addition, the club web site has a coupon for 6 free
raffle tickets (a $5 value). Raffles are every hour. Raffle tickets can be
deposited for any hourly raffle during the show. Need not be present to win.
Small town. Active club. BIG SHOW.

Great!
But who ever heard of Cottonwood, AZ??? Hmmm, Verde Valley, that's either
south or north of Tucson, or somewheres or other.? Cottonwood must not be a
really big metropolis (like Bisbee or Tombstone or Patagonia).
Cheers and have a great show, wherever dear old Cottonwood is!
(Please, not making fun of you, just having fun with this!)
Pete
