Funny thing, we've heard about the ALAA on this list for years, but I never thought of it as an organization you could join--and for such a reasonable membership.  I am going to join now.  

Another funny thing is the idea of what people consider "freedom."  When people start talking about "private property rights," I've found that to be a code for placing endless restrictions against others, even when that property is undeveloped, nowhere near anything, and blocks access to other land; and even worse, usually means someone wants to be able to develop anything they want on the property, regardless of the harm it will do to others around it.  

We need the ALAA because I don't think the gov't has the best interest of mineral collectors and hobby miners at heart.
