Hello Aaron,
Welcome to our group!
Go for your dreams!
I always wanted to create jewelry using the rocks I had collected. My
Father, always collected rocks, but he didn't know how to cut and polish them.
I started creating jewelry when I was 13 and collected cut and polished
rocks when I went to the fairs. Later, I started collecting rocks when my
family went camping.
My family moved a lot and I always moved my rocks with me over the years.
I am now, 69, and I have purchased used rock cutting and polishing
equipment. I also took lesson from a local rock club who had classes at my local
junior college. The classes were open to people of all ages, so you might
check your local clubs and see if they are giving lessons this fall and
winter.
This is something your Mother might be interested in also. It is a fun
thing to do together.
There is a lot of information available on the internet, so google, rock,
stones, fossils etc, and read everything.
I also had an opportunity to become a Silversmith Apprentice and learn all
the information I needed to create jewelry.
I used to work for Lockheed Missiles and Space Company and have since
retired. My working for this company helped me learn about metals and chemicals
and this helped me learn jewelry crafting easier.
So, everything you learn now will help you later in life, including Math,
Language, Spelling, Chemistry, etc.
Best Regards,
Veva Bailey

Hi group,
It's me Aaron. My mom Shawn signed us up for this group. I am going to be
a geologist, gemologist, paleantologist, or something like that when I grow
up. I have a big question, when and how did you become interested in
geology and what do you do now that you are grown? I want to see what
interesting fields I could get into in the future and what I should prepare for.
Also, I do think that whatever I do, digging would have to be a major part of
it. Do you have aanything really important that you learned, or some advice
that has stuck with you through your years? Anyone wanting to answer please
do. I use these emails and such as part of my Language Arts for homeschool
as well as my geology study. My mom helps me type cause I'm so slow at it
so it may take a bit for me to get back. Thanks
Aaron Hendricks
