Hi:

Here's a suggestion for treating your crystals...

Use a can of blow to remove the dust, and perhaps a soft brush for the surfaces you can reach.  This way you don't introduce additional H2O into the situation.

Then put the crystal into a jar, a mason jar for example, with a layer of active dissicant for a bottom layer.  These jars are inexpensive and available at any large grocery store where people garden in sizes up to a half gallon.

Screw the lid on tight, and display.  I bet they won't change as long as you keep the lid on.

Just a suggestion.  I haven't got any self-destructing specimens so far, although that could change.  In West Virginia it's really humid all the time, but now that I'm building a winter habitat in Arizona, who knows?
