[Rockhounds] A non-admin note from your friendly neighborhood Admin/List-owner...

Just so you guys know...I personally don't *care* about religious discussions, or political stuff, or even off topic stuff. I honestly don't.

I feel like a big grouch sometimes, because I have to squelch stuff, but I'm tellin' ya, someone puts one half of a toe across the line and I get emails from people who *do* care about stuff like that. Then someone posts something else for that thread and I get emails from the *other* side of the issue.

There are currently 560 rockhounds members, most in the U.S., but we have members from all over the world. They come from all walks of life, different religions, and have differing political views. So something you see as funny or enlightening...or just plain *true*, probably won't seem that way to some other members.

That's why those things are in the rules.

By the way, I LIKE getting emails about list problems. If you see something that you feels crosses the line, *do* email me, and don't post to the list. There's a really good chance that I've already sent a note to that person, and the issue is handled. (Sadly, I spend about 15 hours per day, most days, in front of my computer with email on, so if something is going on, chances are I'm aware of it.)

But when if jump on stuff right away like a real <insert favorite expletive here>, it really helps with the signal to noise ratio. So I come down fast and hard.

Sorry about that, but I don't know of any other way to handle it.

Julie
