Hi, Cheri! That lovely specimen looks like an HCL acid washed massive
calcite to me.
I bought one with the same luster and feel for my sweetheart a few years
ago, in a lively blue tone. The shop owner said it was from Mexico.
Your specimen appears to be perched on fine travertine onyx, for which
Mexico is well known. I wish I knew where to get some of that color, it's
simply lovely!
Testing your specimen should be easy, though I've never done it myself.
According to Sinkankas & Pough, calcite will react to a weak acid solution
by bubbling and fizzing. Sounds like fun, eh?
I've read of using white vinegar, perhaps someone else can confirm that for
us.
Thanks for the great pictures!
Be well!
Kris
