Just one more thing before I move on: the lack of good, large crystals 
of a species does not imply a causality based on the vagaries of the 
unit cell of the quirks of electron density.  There are a lot of factors 
involved in crystal growth; and even considering the fairly advanced 
information I was taught, I would not go so far as to make a definitive 
statement regarding this issue.

I read the article and I know exactly what you are wondering, but the 
question is a difficult one to answer.
