Bob,
There wouldn't be many places in your immediate area- the shore would be a better bet. I guess you could try the beaches on some of the small lakes in your area- Fayson Lakes is at a fairly high elevation, for example, or maybe Lake Swannanoa (sp?)

collect them and I thought it would be great to look for them.I live in New
