I have long found DK Books good enough for basic information, but  
most importantly, they stimulate interest. I bought them for my  
grandsons when they were young. They do a good job on most subjects,  
and are reasonable price wise. Yes Costco frequently sells them in  
the getting ready for the Holidays time.

Check out some of the other topics, more comprehensive than most.
