Armando,

If you have a good reflector you should be OK with a 18 Watt germicide lamp.
Or two 12 watt energy saving lamps. The total filter length will be about
the same. 
Be sure to use a GOOD quality reflector. It's easy to make one with a
plastic pipe and some alu-foil.
