  I used c'est le guerre to be funny, I really should have
used c'est le vie to be diplomatic, my apologies. As
you can tell, I still have hard feelings from the other
forum. I never did get any decent answers on there,
and most were about Sterling Hill and Franklin minerals.

Pure speculation but here's my two cents:



When asking for advise on fluorescence you should always state:

1.        which UV lamp did you use: SW-or LW?

2.       Where is the specimen from?

3.       what are the accompanying minerals?



I don't think that sugilite fluoresces. I may appear to do so when mixed
with chalcedony. But then it is the chalcedony that fluoresces.

If the sugilite is purple in color, it could act as a colored filter 
which
stops the green fluorescing band of uranyl fluorescence and allows the
yellow and green to pass.  The green uranyl fluorescence, which is quite
common in chalcedony, would than appear orange. I think that is why
metakirchheimerite (Cobalt-uranyl arsenate) also fluoresces orange.



I have no idea about the red and the blue but that may be accompanying
minerals..
