[Rockhounds] FW: FOSSIL HUNTING HOBBY IN DANGER Fw: PublicLandUsage Bills

All,

The current bill, was lumped together with about 150 other land use  
bills and introduced by Sen. Harry Reid of NV.  Plans were to ramrod  
the Ominibus bill through congress before the end of this session.

A week ago, Sen. Reid withdrew the bill because another Senator  
threatened a filibuster.  Reid withdrew because a) he did not believe  
he had sufficient votes to invoke cloture and b) congress has a few  
more important things to deal with at this time and he did not want  
to waste time with a filibuster.

The fossil bill and all other land use bills are therefore dead for  
this session.

However, Reid has indicated that the bills will be introduced once  
again in January with the new congress, so none of us can rest easily.
