Hello Group

The 2008 summer collecting season is now history and it is time to
start planning next year's trips. In that vein I have put together
another used geoscience book offering for members of the Internet
newsgroups to which I belong. If you don't want to read this
ADVERTISEMENT, then please delete now. Many of these books are coming
out of my personal library - my collecting interests have changed so
they are now surplus. Others are duplicates or "extras" recently
acquired when I purchased from estates, box-lots containing something
I did need for my own library. All of them are very reasonably
priced! If you are interested or have a question please email me off
list at MillsGeological at hughes.net and I will reserve requested
titles for the first person to claim them. If you see something you
want, don't delay - our previous sales seemed to go remarkably fast
and some folks were disappointed. I will be posting this
advertisement to several lists and apologize to those who receive
this email more than once because they also belong to several lists.
I have arranged the titles by the general  categories of METEORITES;
MINERALS, MINES AND MINING; FOSSILS; and GEOLOGY. They are bargain
priced and the price quoted includes media rate postage to USA
domestic addresses as well as applicable California Sales Tax. If you
are located in another country than USA please inquire about postal
rates to your area which would be added. So, take a look and see if
any of these need to be in your own library:

1. METEORITES USGS PP 1042 Geology of the Decaturville Impact
Structure, Missouri. By Offield and Pohn. 1979. 48 pages including
comprehensive bibliography. Incredible 1:7000 scale full color map
measuring a whopping 56 x 41 inches folded in pocket at back cover of
publication along with a second full color plate of block diagrams
showing structural detail. USGS assessment of this structure is
meteorite impact in origin. Mint condition interior pages. Covers
sunned and original owner name on front cover in pencil. Very scarce
copy. $25.

2. METEORITES USGS PP - 1151-B Surface Geology of the Jeptha Knob
Cryptoexplosion Structure, Shelby County, Kentucky. By Cressman.
1981. 16 pages including comprehensive bibliography. Full color map
at 1:24,000 scale folded in pocket at back cover of publication. USGS
cannot say for certain that this structure is an impact structure
resulting from a meteorite. No shatter cones or coesite which are
generally indicative of impact structures has been found. On the
other hand, geophysical investigations reveal that there is no
relationship of this structure to any obvious structural trend. Hence
the prefix crypto meaning "hidden". Mint condition covers and
interior pages. Very scarce copy. $20

3. MINERALS, MINES AND MINING USGS PP - 956 Geology of the Minturn
15-Minute Quadrangle, Eagle and Summit Counties, Colorado. By Tweto

geologic map in pocket. If you are a mineral collector you will
recognize this area as the source of specimens coming from Gilman,
Eagle River and Red Cliff Colorado. The quad also includes the old
mining town of Vail - now the ski playground. An excellent resource

them are interesting but the ones of greatest interest to mineral
collectors deal with Jordisite (Ambrosia Lake NM) Loeweite,
Vanthoffite, Bloedite and Leonite (SE New Mexico) and rare earth

Brown in Seattle, Washington. The ads are at least as interesting as
the short articles themselves. Small format magazines of around 35 to
40 pages each. Good condition. $10 (includes both issues)
