Interesting, Wikipedia has this reference:

"The work Peri Lithon (On Stones) by Theophrastus (372-287 BC), a
student of Aristotle, remained authoritative for millennia."

My Greek is rusty, but I'm wondering if the difference between "lithos"
and "lithon" is one of plurality, i.e., "stone" vs. "stones."

Back to the thesis...
