[Rockhounds] How to make Fluorite octahedra?

Johan.

Have an ample supply of adequate sized cubic fluorite specimens, and a 
pocket knife.

It takes a little practice to cleave octahedrons from cubes. Once you 
get the knack, it is easy.

You will never teach it if you can't do it yourself.
