Family obligations caused me to arrive half an hour late, and I only
got to stay for 90 minutes (before I had to leave for a kid pickup).
I'm glad I got to the Indian Mounds Rock and Mineral Club Summer Sale
in Wyoming, MI again this year.
BTW, I did cleanup last year, and again at this year's club show, so
missing one event contributing to the club still leaves me as a net
contributor; you get more out of your club if you put something into it.
It wasn't quite as big as last year, but over a couple dozen dealers
and collectors lined one side of the long parking lot.
The first table, and several other tables I stopped at. asked me to
help identify a variety of specimens. I got to see some fun mineral and
fossil specimens, most fairly common but with unusual habit or quality.
I'll bet money I got most of them right.
There was a lot of cutting material available (mostly agates, kona
dolomite, and petoskey stone, but a lot of odd stuff), finished stones
and jewelry, many mineral specimens (including a lot of closed
locations), and some lapidary equipment.
I purchased a few mineral specimens (most from closed locations;
Gaspeite, Barite, Azurite).
I found a few copper and/or silver crystals worth taking home. One had
a 1/2 inch (10x lens) copper vug lined/filled with hairs of connected
cubic copper crystals (and some minor silver), and some great epidote
vugs almost as big.
Every dealer I talked to at length was having a better than average day.
Good show. I wish I could have stayed longer -- the dealers kept
pulling out new stock.
