Here's my reply to the vlllage voice:

In relation to the zany plans to have permits for detectors , eg radiation 
detectors, to stop false alarms, maybe we should think how many false alarms 
there are from existing fire detection systems, many of them actually 
licensed and plugged directly into fire stations.  The stupidity of this 
permitting law suggestion then becomes quite apparent.
