They probably could....but then they wouldn't sell as many because we wouldn't need as many because they lasted longer and I guess they'd consider that a poor business decision. :-)

I'm wondering why they couldn't make belts without a seam. Build them as
a continuous tube, and then just slice off seamless belts of the desired
width. Bet they would last longer.
