[Rockhounds] Speaking of lapidary tools....Any favorites?

Hi everybody,
  I was wondering if any of you have favorite  lapidary tools.  Are there any 
uncommon tools that anyone could share with  the list.   I am interested in 
building some of my own equipment and  was looking for ideas and inventions 
that others have.  I have a lot of  material that would be neat cut and made into 
jewelry but have little experience  and would love to learn.  Sometimes the 
simplest things are very  effective.
