Mike
Since your bliss?is more than just a Hobby and time is money, I will recommend what, I feel, is the best machine for you -
?
It is the Pro 12 Diamond Lap?Machine
I actually have?a?PRO 12?and have never used it and MAY want to sell it to you?-
I wanted to polish slabs and also take photos of them, but as you are aware, it is NOT and easy task and it takes much much much time and you must also?get out there, hit the road?and sell .
I have no time, or money, to do this in the foreseeable near future-
I am writing to you through the list first, rather than directly to you at, Mike.city at gte.net,?so that other members?can see and comment on my opinion, as to whether this Pro 12 machine, which?I?have and might sell to you, would actually be?the best machine for you overall......
I would not want you to purchase?my machine or any?machine for that matter, which?is not in your best interest.
The machine I have and would recommend for you is made by Crystallite --
?
It can do slabs up to 12 full?inches and larger actually - You simply move the larger slabs around the 12 inch laps.
Full Name of machine - CRYSTALMASTER PRO? 12? -
The cost new, at a discount?lapidary supply house,?named Kingsley North, is about $1,800, with all the Diamond laps?included -?
This is a machine that will do it?ALL -
MOST?importantly, it?is?truly a?machine you can grow with and will give you what you need now and in your successful future !?
?
I would stay far far?away from Vibratory laps of any kind -
They are SLOW SLOW and?VERY MESSY?and noisy -?
Vibratory machines have?complicated / basically,?IRRITATING?&?TEDIOUS,?cleaning steps?and grit contamination in always a problem -
Bottom line, Vibratory laps, for the most part,?are?a BIG PAIN, in the you know what !!! ?and they?require 24 / 7 operation, to achieve good?results and that is just?for the first side of your slab....
Good Luck with your choice and if you decide you want a Crystallite, CRYSTALMASTER PRO 12, Give me a jingle at ROCKNLIGHT at AOL.COM? and we can talk ...

Subject: [Rockhounds] Need to polish slabs, advice and my Tucson experience
I am new to this group.?
I am in need of advice on the best machine to polish about 50-100 slabs that I have, they range from 1-6 inch sizes.?
Would like to do both sides and not spend forever doing it.?
?
Was thinking of getting a Covington Maxi Lap:?
Downside is you have to be hands on. Up side is they are faster?
They use more expensive diamond discs instead of slurry?
?
Or is the vibrating kind for me?:?
Upside is it works in the background like a tumbler. Downside is it is slower for each piece and use slurry that you need to clean at each step.?
?
or a Diamond Pacific vibrating lap:?
?
Or anyone have some good ideas, appreciate any direction.?
?
I am a photographer of stones and fossils and showed for the first time at the TGMS show in Tucson and prior to that had 3 days going to the "Hub-bub" other shows. There are some very nice people in Tucson.?
?
Here is a link to my TGMS display booth:?

?
Anyone have any great pieces for me to capture in exchange for some of my art let me know.?
