I don't remember whether the post about the civil war headstone was on this or the Paleolist.

I sent the link to Bill Ausich a crinoid expert. He identified it as Actinocrinites, probably A. gibsoni. The crinoid is associated with Middle Mississippian Crawfordsville-age strata, probably from Indiana. The general's tombstone was not made from rock indigenous to New York!
