Here's my two cents:

Cows have learned to predict earthquakes and flee from them because
buttering is MUCH more painful than milking (from the bovine standpoint).

Cows have learned to turn there behind into the wind for the same reason
that we put milk in the fridge. I have heard farmers claim that cows are
intelligent enough to listen to their owner when he calls their names. It is
also said that cows that stand with their behind turned into gale-force wind
do NOT come when the farmer calls them. Too much green stuff has blown in
their ears, apparently.
