[Rockhounds] Need Help Please

Best way to remove the old wax is to plug it in and let it get hot.   
Then, using either an old teaspoon or a stick wrapped in paper towel  
or newspaper, scoop out as much of the wax as you can.  Use a piece  
of waxed paper or empty container to dump the wax you remove.

When you've scraped out as much of the wax as you can, turn the dop  
pot off and let it cool.  Then take some cotton or paper towel soaked  
in alcohol and clean up the pot so it's free of all traces of the old  
wax.
