If I may put in my two cents...
Once you've started the saw and it begins to do its thing, don't just
wander off and ignore it.
It is possible for the sample to shift in the vise and jam the blade
while it continues to pull against the blade.
I did this and put an interesting curve into what was a perfectly
good blade and is now very expensive scrap metal.
