Some of the fragments I saw being picked up in the
video appeared similar to the meteorite Norton County:
an Aubrite, which is almost pure enstatite, MgSiO3. If
memory serves, Norton County(1949?) was the largest
single stony meteorite ever recovered. The mass fell
into a stock pond where some cowboys were swimming. It
was immediately hauled out, likely with the aid of
horse power.

This excavation pit doesn't have the hallmarks of a
bomb crater, nor fumarole, nor a meteorite impact pit.
However for now the best candidate seems to be a
meteorite, IMO.
