[Rockhounds] Fairburn Agates in South Dakota

I don't know if there's any left, but aeons ago (as in late 1960's) you
could collect some "slab" agate north of Scenic and state hwy 44. This
stuff was laying right on the surface and was around 1/2 to 1 inch thick.
Gorgeous sky to baby blue in color. Don't even think of collecting when
it's wet because the area was right in the middle of mud washed down from
the Badlands formations. I've still got a couple of pieces squirreled away
in my collection.
Don't forget to stop in at the geology museum of SD Tech in Rapid City!
