[Rockhounds] The Vaux collection at the Academy of Science in Phily

I think museums didn't nearly as much even think or worry about such  things, 
a hundred (?) or so years ago, such as when the Phila. Academy accepted  that 
collection.  I'm sure it seemed a "no-brainer" to accept a bequest  like 
that, at the time--from a person closely connected with the Academy, and of  a 
type of collection they were then much interested in and probably eager to  
acquire and display.

There's  the crux of the matter. The Academy should never have accepted a 
bequest with  such a restrictive stipulation. They did, and now they are stuck 
with  it.
