Actually, the problem was because it wasn't sent from John's list address, 
which appears to be an MSN address; the other was sent through peoplepc.com, 
and that address isn't signed up to the list.

A suggestion for people who want to be able to send to the list from more 
than one address: Sign up with the second address, then set that one to "No 
mail" so that you don't get double emails. John tries to catch misaddressed 
mail and forward it from the admin interface, but he manually goes through 
hundreds of spams to do so, and so they are pretty easy to miss!
