[Rockhounds] Where would you go?

Since DH is traveling so much, we have airline awards to use, plus I have a 
companion pass to fly with him.  We also about at least a week of rental car 
awards.  We can fly anywhere that Southwest Airlines goes.  We will be 
traveling the 2nd week of October.  I'm leaning toward Reno, and driving up 
toward Virgin Valley to the Royal Peacock and maybe the California Gold rush 
area.

Any suggestions, thoughts, comments would be appreciated.  What should be 
considered do not miss?

Also, if it we you, were would you go?
