I'll give you the short story! As told to me by several different supposed witnesses to the whole fiasco. I CAN NOT, say this is the gods honest truth. But it is one of the accepted stories. As with too many of the rock sites, Holley Blue is found most concentrated on private property, and in a very limited area. The original owners of the property allowed digging, respectful, per the code of ethics type digging. But when they passed away, they left instructions that the vast forest land acreage they owned be managed properly so the heirs would be taken care of monetarily for many years. Well, when the corporation that they chose to manage the land took over it's care, some really intelligent folks panicked and decided backhoes and dump trucks were necessary to make sure they got their fair share(as well as everyone else's share). As such, the holding company decided it was too much of a financial risk to allow folks on the property any longer. So they shut it down to all. Since then, they have had to install cameras and such. Having trespassers arrested with NO exceptions and dealt with severely!! This has all happened over the last ten plus years. From what I hear, Ken White was a good friend of the original owners of the property, so he was allowed to take what he wanted.I have some rough bought from Ken, it's beautiful stuff. Keep in touch, I'll try to hook you up with some if I can. Most of whats available at the local shows is junk, fractured, small tumble rough or just crap that dealers can't do anything with. But I'll see what I can get you. If you'd like to call Ken, his number is (541) 259-1529 He could probably tell the story, much better than I.Rich> From: sinico at nbnet.nb.ca> Subject: Re: [Rockhounds] Holly Blue> Date: Tue, 14 Aug 2007 01:07:18 -0300> To: rockhounds at lists.drizzle.com> > > I gather holly blue is no longer being dug?
