Hi Josh,
Welcome to the list. I wish there was something I could add to your
information on the Challis area, but don't seem to have anything new
and specific in mind. If you are into exploring, there are blue-gray to
smoky colored banded agates in many of canyons and hills in the Lime
Creek area, around Antelope Flats and other areas around Challis.
Sometimes more colorful material pops up and even a quartz-lined geode
(rarely with a light amethystine color).
As to that wonderful drive you mentioned, Challis-Carey-Sun
Valley-Challis, it's actually only about 260 miles, just a long drive
for one day, but great for two or more with stops to hike the hills and
canyons!
I was hoping to get down to Challis myself next week to do some more
exploring, but that's not going to happen, and a wedding has me staying
home and not attending the Federation Show in Butte this weekend. Rats!
Good luck out there,
Lanny
