[Postcard2] Los Lobos Goes Disney

I'll ask. When David first met the guys, David worked as a filmmaker/Chicano artist coordinator at Cal State LA (where my wife also worked at the time) and Los Lobos was the only band on the planet combining traditional Mexican folk styles with rockabilly and rock and roll. The band made their living playing weddings and quinceneras and Cinco de Mayo gigs - the latter was the big day since they would play three shows on that day, one at Cal State LA and one at East Los Angeles City College (where they went to school).
I remember seeing Steve Berlin before he joined the Blasters (and, of course, before he joined Los Lobos). He was the stand in sax player for every punkish r&b band in town. I remember one night at Club 88 in West LA where he played sax with all three bands on the bill that night (Beachy and the Beachnuts, Top Jimmy and the Rhythm Pigs and some other band I can't remember right now).

David is still friends with Louie and the boys, as well as with Little Willie G, original lead singer from Thee Midniters (whose solo album on Hightone was produced by Cesar Rosas). David is a golfer and plays with Louie and Willie and, having played with me and knowing of my long time love of Los Lobos and new fanaticism for golf, has asked me to join the foursome. Don't know how good Louie and Willie are but I'm much better than David.>
