I am a bit of a purist, but one who is willing to embrace the rest. I prefer to listen to the real deal. The only bluegrass I can't abide is of the whimpy assed variety, often sang by select females but no stranger to more than a few fellas. But, I won't name names- I still get the occasional piece of hatemail from my tirade about Carrie Hassler's last album. And I dare anyone to call Hazel Dickens wimpy assed.
