i think for snotrageous douchebaggery, the only thing that gives bluegrass a run for its money is Old Time music.
I went to an old time jam once, and they were the biggest pile of assholes i ever saw....

It might be fun to poll the listmembers with a question like, "Do you
prefer that your drummer use a 20 or 22 inch bass drum?"
I once made the mistake of playing some brushes at a drum set that'd
been played at a weekend-long bluegrass party without incident, only
to be coldly informed that drums weren't "required on this one." It
stuck in my craw for years, despite people telling me that the
speaker was a snot and unrepresentative of the other fine folks at
the gathering. I've played with many of them in other situations
without feeling any attitude, so that was true. Right or wrong,
however, it did sour my own attitude toward their scene.
But come to think of it, the insulter was a woman, so maybe she
wasn't a bluegrass musician either...
