>This is nothing remotely like bluegrass. It's acoustic jazz<

Your term "acoustic jazz" reminded me of a show I've been seeing lately.

Jon Randall and Jessi Alexander have put together a band with Guthrie Trapp,
Jimmy Wallace, Larry Atamanuik, and Mike Bub. For the last few months they
have been playing The Station Inn once a month.

I almost didn't attend this show because I'm not a big fan of "country"
music.. but decided on a whim to go..

They did play a couple of country/bluegrass tunes, but most of the night it
was songs by Tom Waits, Leonard Cohen, Randy Newman and many more.. done is
a "jazz" sort of way. It was absolutely fantastic. Ickes sit in with them
the last time they played, and he fit right in with what they were doing.

It's really hard for me to explain what they're doing, but it's one of the
best bands I've heard in a long time. Playing some amazing music.
