JUNE 22:
Yesterday was Father’s Day - - good enough for the Lost Music Saloon to do
a Fathers & Dads-themed show today. Songs about good fathers and bad dads;
songs from the father’s perspective, and songs from the child’s point of
view; songs about Dads who are living, and fathers who have passed on; songs
about sons suddenly seeing their father's face when they look in the
mirror, etc.

Yesterday was also the first day of Summer, so I'll throw in a few
summertime songs as well.

JUNE 15:
Today’s edition of the Lost Music Saloon celebrates its own 5th birthday!
It was on June 18, 2004 that the Lost Music Saloon first aired here on WRIR.
Back then it was a Friday evening show. We moved it to Mondays when WRIR
organized its “Roots Music Monday” line-up of programs.

It’s hard to believe that five years have passed since that first show
aired. At that time we were operating from a room about the size of a large
closet in the basement. When it rained, the floors puddled with water. The
bathroom failed to work more often than not. And WRIR was only going out over
the Internet back then - - no broadcasting over the air. There were times
you could count the entire listening audience on one hand!

To celebrate this 5th Anniversary, I’ve re-created my very first Lost
Music Saloon show. I trust that you won’t mind re-visiting these songs once
again.

JUNE 8:
I got up to Wolf Trap in Northern Virginia to see Steve Earle and John
Prine perform last Friday, and it was a great show. But I had to pass up on an
(almost) equally compelling Todd Snider/Mary Gauthier concert over at the
Birchmere in Alexandria on the same night. So tonight's Lost Music Saloon
show will play a number of cuts from all four of those artists.

And just for the heckuvit, I'm going to do a set or two of songs about
dancers, strippers and prostitutes.
