That may account for some of it. He did some major reworkings of old 
material, turning "Every Day I Write The Book", and "Blame it on Cain" into stone 
cold country tunes, which always gets me excited. 

And I somewhat agree regarding the band, I could have tolerated a few more 
dobro leads, and the mandolin player was never utilized for anything other 
than rhythm. From what I heard the setlist changes a lot, as he did a lot of 
Almost Blue at another venue recently. It was pretty clear from the music 
stands and use of cheat sheets the players were not as familiar with the 
material as they wanted to be. I bet by the end of the short tour they will be 
seriously jamming.

But as a longtime, diehard Costello disciple, this one ranks up there with 
the best shows ever. IMHO, of course. I would go see this show again 
tonight.
