That's exactly how I feel about EC - I just don't get him.  I dated a woman for almost a year who was The World's Biggest Elvis Costello Fan.  She made me all kinds of mixes.  I guess I understand intellectually why people like him, and I give him credit for having all the right influences, but I just don't connect with his music.  His songs, especially the more recent ones, always feel detached - like a clever and well-crafted exercise, but not something that affects you emotionally. 



Nice to hear that Grimey's is still around, what with indie record stores an endangered species.  I spent a good couple of hours there on my Nashville visit several years ago.

Nope.. I went to Grimeys for a CD release show for "Daddy" (Tommy Womack & 
Will Kimbrough) and then to see Stacy Earle and Mark Stuart. 

They were giving away two tickets for Costello and I didn't even enter the 
drawing. As much as I think the band would have been great, that's how much 
I just "don't get" Costello.
